You also should be aware that if a salt such as cyanide is placed in a drink that saturated with a gas, such as soda, beer, or champagne, this will cause the drink to foam until it dissolves or makes the drink flat. So if you character is trying to be discreet in adding the poison with other people around, have him put it in something other than a sparkling drink.
